Following a recent visit from VisitScotland’s quality assurance team, Heaven Scent is thrilled to have achieved the “Taste Our Best” award for the third successive year.
We are proud of the provenance and fantastic quality of our food, and the fact that we use as many Scottish suppliers and ingredients as possible. This is not only highly beneficial for the local economy, it enables us to minimise our food miles and maximise good sustainable and environmental practices.

The UK-wide FreeFrom Eating Out Awards were launched this year to encourage innovation and celebrate excellence in the fast-growing freefrom food service industry.
Heaven Scent was delighted to be shortlisted in the “Cafe, Coffee Shop and Tearoom” category, the only Scottish company to make it through to the final stages of this category in this national competition. We have worked very hard to create a menu with plenty of gluten and diary free options, and to train out staff about allergens and how to cater for customers with special dietary requirements. There’s plenty more we could do however, and we’re always increasing our efforts to include as much choice as possible.

To celebrate Hallowe’en, us ingenious types at Heavens Above encouraged local children to design a “Terrifying Tea” in our scary, food-based competition. The winner of each category, primary and secondary, enjoyed the afternoon tea of their creation with their families on Hallowe’en itself, with their menus also available to other diners.
Reilly White (P4) impressed the judges with her spooktacular menu which included petrifying pumpkin soup and cursed cheese spider with scary carrot legs.
Emma Davel (S4) was the hands down winner of the secondary category as her submission included photos of her gruesome creations, such as a handwich, creepy meringues and a brownie web.
With lots of kids entering and the lucky winners having a fantastic time on Hallowe’en, the competition was a huge success and testament to Heavens Above‘s reputation as an innovative small business at the heart of Milnathort’s community.
It was with some trepidation that we thought we should trial a Steak Night at Heavens Above. A few casual texts later and we realised we were on to a winner.
Marketed as “A Rare Night Out” (our Office Guru Kate really is a lady of many talents!) and initially aimed at men, spaces were very quickly snapped up by the fairer sex as well as blokes, couples looking for a romantic night out, groups of friends and families.
We researched the best and most popular types of steak to offer, and plumped for rump and sirlion. As a VisitScotland “Taste Our Best” accredited caterer, the provenance of our food is important to us so we used the most local supplier we could while ensuring only the best quality of meat. We then got our creative juices flowing, designing a menu with enticing starters and desserts, and explaining the cuts of meat and where we had sourced them from.
Heavens Above was packed to the rafters. 45 cooked-to-order steaks later and Andrew, who had been at the helm of the griddle pan all evening, was fair chuffed with himself as not one was returned. In fact the feedback was incredible, with the food, atmopshere and staff all receiving five star reviews from diners.
The next steak night is actually a steak weekend running on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th February.

Scott Hospitality is delighted to announce that Shoena Payne has joined the company as Sales & Marketing Manager.
Shoena has worked in the travel and hospitality industry for over 18 years, starting her career as Product Manager with Globespan. She was responsible for all operational aspects of the tour operator’s holidays firstly to Majorca then throughout Europe.
Following a six month sabbatical working as a translator for Raleigh International in Chile and travelling in South America, Shoena joined Maximillion Events, organising team building activities, conferences, award ceremonies and parties for corporate groups across the UK and beyond.
Andrew Scott comments “We’ve experienced huge growth in the past few years and we’re excited about bringing Shoena on board to drive the business forward. We have big ambitions to expand our outside catering branch into different markets, and we know that Shoena has the skills and expertise to open up new opportunities”.
