He’s done it!
Andrew has returned victorious from China, having conquered some of the most challenging sections of this incredible world heritage site.
He sweated. He laughed. He enjoyed working as a team with his fellow industry peers. He practised yoga. He even had a little cry at the enormity of it all.
But he did it, and along the way raised over £2.2k for hospitality charity HIT Scotland.
Andrew would like to thank everyone who donated prizes or money for their incredible support. If you haven’t had a chance to donate, please do so on his MyDonate page.
You can read Andrew’s intensely personal blog about the experience here.
Andrew Scott, owner and MD of Heaven Scent, is passionate about the industry he’s worked in since he was 13 years old (which is a LONG time ago…). He wants to make a difference, so today he heads off to China to walk the wall and raise funds for Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland.
If you have a spare quid or two he has a mydonate page. All support is hugely appreciated!
Our founder and MD and Andrew is not shy. And it could be said he has the gift of the gab with a pinch of vision and drizzled with confidence. So it should come as no surprise that when he found himself sitting opposite Alastair Darling, he saw an opportunity.
Grabbing his ‘phone, Andrew asked the former MP and Chancellor of the Exchequer if he could record a plea in support of his fundraising efforts for HIT Scotland by walking the Great Wall of China. And he agreed! Andrew then took every chance he could to gain celebrity endorsement, including from DJ Des Clark, actor Grant Stott, chefs Theo Randall and Aldo Zilli, Weathergirl Judith ralston and even National Grand Winner “One for Arthur”.
The video has gone viral with over 5,000 views over the various sites where it has been posted, and the story has even captured the imagination of the national press, being picked up by The Sunday Post!

Andrew Scott has won the prestigious “Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Hospitality” category at the Scottish Hospitality & Entertainment Awards 2016, held on Sunday 8th May in Glasgow.
This category, designed to recognise an individual who has become a staple in the Scottish hospitality scene and encompasses everything hospitality needs to be, was new for 2016 and one of the most hotly contested awards of the evening.
Andrew says “I’m absolutely delighted to win. I’ve worked in hospitality all my life, in various hotels, restaurants, pubs, bistros and bars for 12 years before taking the plunge and setting up my own business in Milnathort 13 years ago. It’s hard work, but I love it and to be acknowledged in this way makes it all worthwhile”.
He adds “Scotland is renowned for its warm welcome and hospitality is ingrained in our culture. I’m both humbled and honoured for my personal contribution to be recognised in front of the country’s finest talent.”
Andrew is well known for his quirky, award-winning Heaven Scent brand with its artisan coffee shop, outside catering
business, unique events and meeting space and restaurant at Knockhill, Scotland’s premier racing circuit. 18 months ago he set up Victus Consultancy, putting his invaluable knowledge, skill and expertise to good use to help businesses in need of support, guidance and advice.
Winning this award is testament to Andrew’s passion and love of the hospitality industry, and every one here at Heaven Scent is extremely proud of this well-deserved recognition.
Well done Andrew!!!
Our Heaven Scent Manager, Lorin Laing, has won a coveted HIT Scotland scholarship in Switzerland.
The globally renowned Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne offers hospitality management programmes to students from all over the world, and we’re delighted that Lorin was one of only a handful of applicants chosen to receive this highly sought-after award.
HIT recognises and develops only the very best talent in the hospitality industry, so this is a fantastic achievement.
Well done Lorin!
Scott Hospitality is delighted to announce that Shoena Payne has joined the company as Sales & Marketing Manager.
Shoena has worked in the travel and hospitality industry for over 18 years, starting her career as Product Manager with Globespan. She was responsible for all operational aspects of the tour operator’s holidays firstly to Majorca then throughout Europe.
Following a six month sabbatical working as a translator for Raleigh International in Chile and travelling in South America, Shoena joined Maximillion Events, organising team building activities, conferences, award ceremonies and parties for corporate groups across the UK and beyond.
Andrew Scott comments “We’ve experienced huge growth in the past few years and we’re excited about bringing Shoena on board to drive the business forward. We have big ambitions to expand our outside catering branch into different markets, and we know that Shoena has the skills and expertise to open up new opportunities”.
“Also, with the opening of our Heavens Above venue in May 2015, we need an additional member of staff to focus on marketing and selling this unique catering and events space, located above our Heaven Scent coffee shop in Milnathort, Perthshire.”
